Leslie Enos is an alumni from Ghana. He was graduated with an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from UOD in 2021.

Since his graduation Leslie has been working as an expert in stress analysis computations for nuclear installations in Ghana. His work involves conducting thorough reviews and assessments of stress analysis computations for various components of nuclear installations, such as reactor vessels and their internal components, as well as replacement components. Additionally, he has been actively involved in the development of regulation and guidance documents for radiation and nuclear facilities in Ghana.

In today’s interview, Leslie fondly reflects on his time at UOD and offers valuable advice to aspiring students regarding career planning to achieve their goals, drawing from his own experiences.

How did you decide on choosing the University of Dunaújváros and the study program?

I chose to enroll at the University of Dunaújváros due to its nuclear-experienced faculty, modern facilities, and resources such as libraries, nuclear-focused laboratories and research opportunities, all of which could enhance the students' educational experience. Additionally, it was closer to the PAKS Nuclear Power Plant and had professors with decades of experience working at the nuclear facility.

What things did you learn at UOD that were most helpful to you?

The University of Dunajváros exposed me to engineering software commonly used in stress analysis, such as finite element analysis (FEA) software, computer-aided design (CAD) software, and other specialised tools. In my position as a stress analyst, I frequently use these tools to model, simulate, and analyse structures or components. Thus, proficiency in such software has been advantageous.

What is the relationship like between the students and the professors?

Professors engage students in research initiatives or serve as research mentors at UOD. They support the professional development of students by collaborating on research initiatives, assisting with data collection and analysis, and mentoring students in the development of their own research proposals or publications.

What do you think of the campus of the university?

UOD fosters a sense of community on its campus, encouraging collaboration, interaction, and engagement among students, faculty, and staff. The campus also hosts various events, clubs, and activities that promote a vibrant and inclusive campus community.

What do you think of the extracurricular activities (programs, events, excursions) at UOD?

UOD organises excursions, field trips, or study tours that allow students to explore different locations, industries or cultures. These experiences can provide practical learning opportunities, foster personal growth, and create memorable experiences for students.

How well did UOD prepare you to enter the workplace?

The University of Dunaujvaros is known for its rigorous mechanical engineering program that provides a comprehensive education in mechanical engineering principles and practical applications. As a graduate of UOD's mechanical master's degree program, I received a strong foundation in mechanical engineering theory, as well as hands-on experience in designing, analysing, and manufacturing mechanical systems.

UOD's curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including advanced mathematics, engineering materials, solid mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, manufacturing processes, computer-aided design (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA), and other relevant subjects. I was exposed to research opportunities and projects that helped me develop problem-solving skills, critical thinking abilities, and a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles.

What advice would you give to prospective students who are considering to apply to UOD?

Think about your long-term career goals and how UOD's programs can help you achieve them. Consider factors such as the program's curriculum, resources, and alumni network in relation to your career aspirations.
